From Nigeria to Houston: My Journey Into Real Estate

I didn’t grow up in a real estate family. I was born in Nigeria, raised with discipline and drive, and moved to the U.S., where I earned my degree in chemical engineering. For years, I worked in oil & gas: a notoriously fast-paced, demanding industry where I learned to manage complexity, solve problems quickly, and navigate high-stakes negotiations. But something was missing. I wanted to build something of my own — something with more control, more freedom, and more upside. That’s when I started buying property. At first, it was one rental. Then a flip. Then a small multi-unit. Before I knew it, I was spending more time on real estate deals than I was in engineering meetings. I became licensed, doubled down, and built Networth Builders with one goal in mind: to help others do what I did — faster and with fewer missteps.
